Still Alice
In the middle of last year, the movie "Still Alice" was released in cinemas, starring the famous actress Julianne Moore, known to the audience for the films "The Big Lebowski" and "This Stupid Love". This role earned the actress a Golden Globe Award and an Oscar statuette coveted by all actors. Her co-stars in the film are popular actress Kristen Stewart and actor Alec Baldwin. The film was directed by Richard Glaser and Wash Westmoland.
The film tells the story of Columbia University linguist Alice Howland (Julianne Moore). She is married to John Howland (Alec Baldwin) and has three children.: son Tom and daughters Anna and Lydia (Kristen Stewart). She has built a successful career in the field of linguistics and is a respected specialist in her field. But one day, the heroine discovers that words and facts have begun to fall out of her memory. Concerned about this fact, she turns to a doctor, who, after a series of procedures, diagnoses Alice with early–stage Alzheimer's disease, which she most likely inherited from her father. Since the disease is genetic, Alice asks her children to also take all possible tests and find out if they face the same fate as her. As a result of the tests, it turns out that she is not in danger, but Anna's tests show a positive result. Lydia refuses to take the test.
Alice is trying in every way to slow down the development of the disease. She continues to teach at the university, tries to memorize random words, and also uses her phone to create a test for herself from elementary questions: "What is your eldest daughter's name?", "When is your birthday?", etc. The heroine records a video that will need to be opened in case the answers to the questions they will start to forget. It said that if her memory was almost completely gone, she would need to drink a whole jar of pills that she had hidden in her dresser beforehand, thus committing suicide. Meanwhile, the disease progressed. Alice was forgetting more and more facts. One day, after mistakenly opening a folder containing her secret message to herself, Alice tries to take pills, but by coincidence, her nurse comes home at that time, which prevents the heroine from following these instructions. Soon, John informed his wife that he would need to move to another state due to a promotion, and Lydia, who worked as an actress in another city, would have to move back to look after her mother. At the end of the film, Lydia reads Alice an excerpt from the play and asks her mother if she understood what the monologue was about. By that time, Alice was already at the stage of the disease when she could no longer form words, so her answer was simple: love.
The premiere of the film "Still Alice" took place in Toronto in 2014 and immediately received positive reviews from film critics. Many publications covered the stunning success of the painting.
